      LD1582: Maine Psilocybin Services Act

      Overview: The bill would allow adults 21 and older to legally purchase psilocybin products from retailers and consume them under supervision of a licensed “psilocybin service facilitators. It would issue licenses to businesses to legally produce and sell the drug. The state would tax psilocybin products at 15 percent of the retail sales price.
      Status: Undetermined, but seems like the bill died. Voted on February 8, 2022, results: Divided Report voting not to pass.

      LD 967: An Act To Make Possession of Scheduled Drugs for Personal Use a Civil Penalty

      Overview: The bill would broadly decriminalize possession of all currently illicit drugs and make possession of a controlled substance a civil penalty punishable by a $100 fine without the threat of jail time.
      Status: Died between Houses, July 2, 2021
